Recording My Video Update Episodes - The Setup

I am getting back in the routine of recording episodes for the Video Updates series I began earlier this year. Through these recordings I want to document what I'm experiencing as I learn to work with making videos with my iPhone 7 Plus, my OM-D E-M1, and, soon, my E-M5 II, as well as other aspects of my obsession with photography and technology.

Why Did I Buy an Olympus OM-D E-M5 II Camera?

I bought a Panasonic GM-5 camera back in the spring because I wanted a small camera to use alongside my Olympus OM-D E-M1 that could use my pool of micro4/3 lenses. I love it! So much so that I used it exclusively and began forgetting the way I had my E-M1 set up! That made me think, "Maybe I don't need the E-M1. Maybe I need the E-M5 II instead."

Wandering the Streets: Erfurt, Germany

My nephew Donnie's eldest child, Debbie, just started university this fall. She's attending the university in Ilmenau which is not far from Erfurt. I left Bayreuth and traveled north into the neighboring state of Thuringia to Ilmenau to see Debbie. After seeing her dorm room, we drove east to Erfurt for some sightseeing and dinner.

The Peak Design Clutch Wrist Strap

I love wrist straps over shoulder straps for my cameras. Though I bought into the BosStrap system - and like it! - I started using my old SunPak wrist strap on my Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera because it is a bit more beefy than the BosStrap “tail” that goes over your wrist. In fact, my E-M1 had both the BosStrap “tail” and the SunPak wrist strap. All good. However, one problem with the camera bottom connector...

Wandering the Streets: Regensburg, Germany

Regensburg is a beautiful city in Bavaria. It is my sister-in-law’s favorite city and the home of one of her nieces, whom I first met when she was a baby many years ago. Though she is not, I think of Petra as one of my German nieces. It is also now the home of one of our son’s best friends. So, though I had been to the city several times in the past, it was the first on my list of cities to visit on this trip.
