Reliving Cape Town
Our eldest granddaughter Caroline was thrilled to be back in “her city!” In the summer of 2019, she participated in a 6-week course/intern experience in Cape Town run through Workshop 17 and endorsed by her university. Not her first trip abroad but it was her first solo international trip. And she clearly loved it and fell in love with Cape Town. She was excited to show us around so after a restful Monday we took off on Tuesday to explore the Victoria & Albert Waterfront and where she had classes.
Lunch at Harbour House Restaurant
Though showing us where she spent her time during her stay was important, nothing is as important as going shopping when the opportunity presents itself! And the V&A Mall presented many opportunities, so off to H&M we went! Eventually it was time to look for someplace to eat, it was lunchtime after all. Deciding on where to eat consumed much of our time over this 3-week trip! We went outside the mall and decided on the Harbour House Restaurant, which had outdoor seating overlooking part of the harbor, for drinks and lunch snacks.
After lunch we walked to the nearby area where Caroline’s Workshop 17 classes where held. Their location was very clever as they were on the entire second floor of a standing market with the ground floor taken up by dozens and dozens of both sales stalls and permanent shops. It was fun to witness Caroline’s delight at being back there. This is where she met many international students and fell in love with this city far, far away from home.
We made our way back to the mall and took a ride on the Ferris wheel, getting great views of the city harbor and surrounding areas. As in everywhere we went, Table Mountain dominated the landscape. We then went through the mall to get where we could order an Uber to get back to our lodgings.
