Sketching & Painting Sampler Session

Would you like a taste of what we cover in my full 12-hour On-Location Sketching & Watercolor Painting class? Well, this 3-hour “Class Sampler” will give you exactly that. Plus, you get a complete sketching and painting kit to take home with you!
On-Location sketching and painting, often referred to as “urban sketching,” involves capturing the world around you right where you are. It differs from drawing a building or scene from a reference photo by giving you a “feeling” of the environment in which that building is. And it differs from simply taking a photograph because since you’re taking the time to analyze the scene to draw it, you’ll remember the experience better.
What Will You Do?
I will give you a demo of drawing with a water-soluble pen and applying a water ‘wash’ and a demo of drawing with a permanent ink pen and adding watercolor paint. I will show you how to use the 5-paint palette you will receive as part of your own sketching and watercolor “kit.” Using the five colors in your palette, you will learn how to mix colors to create many colors right in your own sketchbook. Finally, you will do a drawing with water soluble ink and water as I demonstrated at the beginning of this session.
We will then leave our classroom (our dining room) and, weather permitting, go outside, sit in folding chairs and draw and paint a nearby house, building, or tree with your new drawing and painting “kit!”
We will return to our classroom, warm up with hot tea or coffee, and discuss what you have learned and how you will use your new knowledge.
What’s This Going to Cost Me?
The full 12-hour On-Location Sketching & Watercolor Painting class is $149. This Sampler session is only $50. Should you decide to sign up for the full class within a year, the $50 will count toward the full course cost, meaning the full course with lots of on-location sketching and painting will cost you only $99!
